Just a quick post to showcase some of the stuff and things happening at South B. Above, Josh created this multi-cut stencil work of his teacher's dog.
This is the first in a series of cakes that represent Ellea's past, present and future life. The first in the series is this oil painting of a birthday cake for a one year old. The next painting, which she is currently working on, is of her upcoming graduation cake. The final painting in the series will be a wedding cake. All three paintings will have similar objects (flowers) and share a common color scheme.
We presented a unit on how artists often use text in their work. This unit inspired Laura to create this stencil, spray painting of the text from her home state.
One of the Nine units covered in Art One is the Object. This student decided to create an egg using pastels. The first egg came out so good that he decided to create a whole flock of eggs.
In another unit, we talked about how artists often use scale when create works of art. That inspired Macayla to create this giant, M&M cookie complete with box.
In Computer Art, we learned a little about Photo manipulation. Using her newly acquired skill set, Autumn created this Newimal.

Often, as art teachers, we present projects that we know will be successful. However, that should never replace the need to experiment, play, take risk, and just straight up see what might happens when you do. Ink, between melted crayon, on glass. We'll see...
